Job Summary

This position exists to provide civil engineering leadership, technical guidance, and apply engineering skills to ensure the delivery of programmed design projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for overall design quality by maintaining appropriate QA/QC for the design process, ensuring technical competency of staff, project assignments, and establishing a high level of technical competence across the staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to assist District 8 Project Managers and Engineers in the Design portion of the projects.
  • Review detailed construction plans to ensure proper program execution and compliance with MnDOT, state, and federal procedures, practices, regulations, and standards.
  • Lead the development of transportation projects and serve as a Project/Consultant Manager.
  • Ensure technical competency of staff and establish a high level of technical competence across the staff.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Construction Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university or its equivalency as rated by NCEES/EAC. A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is also required. Additionally, the candidate should have two years of post-graduation civil engineering work experience or a Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university or its equivalency as rated by NCEES/EAC and a passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam with one year of post-graduate civil engineering work experience.

Required skills include experience using Windows-based operating systems, spreadsheet, and word-processing software applications, as well as project management skills sufficient to lead and train staff in managing design workload, scope, and schedule.
