Maintenance Operations Specialist

Position OverviewThe Maintenance Operations Specialist is responsible for the daily oversight and fundamental operations of plant and pump/booster stations, conducting laboratory tests, and executing corrective, predictive, and preventative maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Operate machinery both manually and via instrumentation panels, computer terminals, and programmable logic control units, adhering to established process control protocols.
- Monitor and document operational conditions, maintaining accurate records in the shift log.
- Identify and resolve basic operational issues, implementing corrective measures as per established procedures.
- Perform CLAIR (cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, inspection, and minor repair) on various equipment, including pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators, valves, and more.
- Report and log work results in the appropriate database, ensuring all operational problems are communicated promptly to the Lead or Supervisor.
- Conduct troubleshooting on mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems to assess necessary repairs.
- Dismantle equipment to access and repair defective components using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring devices.
- Reassemble and test equipment to ensure safe and efficient operational conditions are restored.
- Collect samples of water, wastewater, industrial waste, and other materials according to a predetermined schedule.
- Conduct field tests to determine chemical dosages for process and odor control units.
- Prepare chemical solutions, monitor inventory levels, and recommend reorders as necessary.
- Perform laboratory tests and compile reports in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain lab and field equipment, including calibration and servicing of various instruments.
- Execute facility maintenance tasks, including the replacement of light fixtures, windows, and other structural components.
- Engage in manual labor, including cleaning and waste disposal, in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Operate vehicles and mobile equipment for maintenance and operational purposes.
- Assist in maintaining parts inventory and may support other areas of the plant as directed.
This role is primarily conducted in an operational setting, with exposure to outdoor conditions and potential inclement weather. Employees may be required to travel for training and may serve on a rotational 24-hour emergency on-call basis.
QualificationsCandidates should possess a high school diploma or GED, with the ability to read, write, and comprehend English. A minimum of two to five years of experience in a related field is preferred, along with proficiency in using various tools and equipment.
Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently are essential. Candidates must demonstrate mechanical aptitude and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
CertificationsRelevant vocational training and certifications in water/wastewater operations are advantageous. A valid driver's license is required, and candidates should be prepared to engage in ongoing training and development.
Physical RequirementsThis position involves significant physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting. Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform tasks at heights and in confined spaces.
