The Project Cost Management Specialist is a remote role collaborating with an oil and gas manufacturer.

This position will necessitate occasional site visits to the operational facility. Project Cost Management Specialist Duties

  • Develop and oversee project timelines in conjunction with Project Managers.
  • Coordinate with Planning & Project Managers to ensure synchronization of planning, cost estimation, and financial oversight.
  • Assist in formulating comprehensive project cost projections and integrating actual project expenditures.
  • Evaluate scope modification requests for their effect on total project costs.
  • Guide the project team in comprehending the risk/cost/schedule trade-offs to facilitate informed business and commercial decisions.
  • Employ cost estimation methodologies and tools to generate cost forecasts that encompass engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational costs.
  • Factor in project complexity elements into cost assessments and compile essential input data such as project goals, scope, and execution strategy.
  • Conduct scenario analyses and uncertainty assessments on cost projections, reflecting an analysis of project risks. Support the review and validation of cost estimates.
  • Benchmark against historical data, industry standards, and established performance indicators.
  • Create an Estimate Plan outlining the approach for developing the cost estimate.
  • Draft an Estimate Basis to document the rationale behind the cost estimate.
  • Manage Estimating Data - Facilitate the collection of actual cost performance data, normalize this data for future reference, and develop metrics and benchmarking information.
  • Utilize Technical, Economic, Commercial, Organizational & Political profiles to determine suitable deterministic cost contingencies.

Qualifications:
Project Cost Management Specialist Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in project cost management.
  • Strong understanding of Project Management Guidelines principles, techniques, and industry-standard tools.
  • Basic knowledge of scheduling principles.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel is essential.
