Position Overview:

A Licensed Practical Nurse specializing in Allergy Care plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily functions of the United Allergy Services allergy center. This position involves conducting allergy assessments, educating patients about allergen immunotherapy, executing clinical procedures, and collaborating professionally with healthcare providers and office staff to deliver exceptional patient-centered care to individuals suffering from allergies within the community. The Allergy Care Specialist is responsible for both clinical and administrative tasks in a medical setting, working under the guidance of a supervising physician.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Acquire and maintain a comprehensive understanding of allergens, the allergic response, clinical protocols, and the advantages of immunotherapy.
  • Ensure the safe and effective administration of immunotherapy, including conducting quality allergy tests and preparing allergy immunotherapy formulations.
  • Educate patients on the proper administration of injections related to immunotherapy.
  • Monitor patient progress through follow-ups and ensure timely collection of immunotherapy supplies.
  • Complete necessary documentation and verify insurance eligibility for each patient.
  • Manage patient scheduling through various methods, including in-person, phone, or centralized scheduling systems.
  • Handle and submit all billing information to the appropriate office using relevant electronic medical record systems.
  • Maintain and secure clinic inventory levels, ensuring timely ordering and receipt of supplies.
  • Foster and maintain professional relationships with healthcare providers and medical office personnel.
  • Address patient inquiries or concerns by escalating them to the appropriate team member or provider promptly.
  • Contribute to achieving the clinic's strategic goals and objectives related to productivity and revenue.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Certification as a medical assistant.
  • At least one year of full-time equivalent experience in healthcare, hospital, customer service, retail, or a similar field.
  • Nursing or other medical technician certifications as mandated by state or local regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficient computer skills are required.
