The Advanced Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for delivering exceptional patient care in accordance with hospital and departmental protocols to guarantee patient safety. This role involves completing necessary tasks to maintain efficient and effective departmental functions. The sonographer ensures that all equipment, examination rooms, and workspaces are kept in a clean and secure state to protect both patients and staff.

Work Schedule: Full Time

Hours: Monday to Friday, Day shifts, rotating weekends, and on-call duties

Position Overview:

  • Exhibits the capability to identify clinical or urgent issues that may affect examinations and takes appropriate measures to address them, ensuring optimal outcomes as demonstrated by examination results and patient feedback. Communicates proficiently with referring and interpreting physicians to guarantee proper utilization of services.
  • Applies correct techniques for administering IV contrast or other enhancing solutions in line with the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography Standards. Ensures examination rooms are adequately stocked with necessary supplies and that all required materials are readily available for procedures.
  • Accurately identifies patients and corresponding orders, ensuring a high level of precision, as evidenced by the absence of mismatched studies. Maintains active credentialing status by adhering to continuing education requirements and participating in at least 50% of quality assurance conferences.
  • Ensures patient safety within the department through the use of safety measures such as side rails and monitoring systems, as demonstrated by risk management protocols. Reports, documents, and rectifies any adverse or unsafe conditions, as evidenced by documentation in the tracking system. Maintains proper care and aseptic cleaning of all patient-related equipment following established departmental policies to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Effectively troubleshoots equipment issues and communicates with biomedical engineering or vendors as necessary, as evidenced by service reports. Recognizes the need for routine maintenance of echocardiography equipment to ensure consistent quality imaging, as reflected in physician assessments and examination results.

Qualifications for Consideration:

  • ARDMS Registered with RDCS Certification or CCI Registered with RCS Certification for Echocardiography
  • Graduation from an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program or five years of specialized training in a healthcare environment.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting performing cardiac sonography after obtaining registry.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
