The Role:
The Financial Compliance Manager will oversee all facets of providing essential expertise, support, monitoring, and challenge in the management of risk within the organization. The primary aim is to ensure the development, execution, and ongoing enhancement of risk management and internal controls at process, systems, and entity levels. This position entails coordinating and facilitating the achievement of various risk management goals, including adherence to ethical standards, efficiency of internal controls, sustainability, and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Risk Management Practices: Demonstrate proficiency in developing, implementing, and continuously refining standard processes within the organization. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify potential risks, evaluate their impact, and devise strategies for effective mitigation or control.
- Internal Controls: Assist in establishing and maintaining robust internal control systems across all business processes and functions. This involves assessing existing controls, identifying gaps or weaknesses, and implementing necessary improvements to protect the organization's assets, data, and reputation.
- Compliance and Ethical Standards: Lead efforts to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards, which is a critical aspect of this role.
- Information and Technology Security: Collaborate with IT and information security teams to evaluate and enhance security measures.
- Testing and Reporting: Conduct detailed testing and generate comprehensive reports on the adequacy and efficiency of risk controls, including internal controls. These reports will be presented to senior management and relevant stakeholders, providing valuable insights for decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Control Testing: Design and implement testing plans to evaluate the strength of existing internal controls. Conduct walkthroughs, sample testing, and substantive testing to identify control gaps, weaknesses, and potential areas of non-compliance.
- Compliance Testing: Perform compliance testing to verify adherence to applicable laws and ethical standards. Assess whether the company's policies and procedures align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- IT Systems Testing: Conduct testing of technology controls, data security, and access controls to safeguard critical information and systems.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance risk management processes and internal controls, implement best practices, and monitor emerging trends.
- Training and Awareness: Organize training sessions and awareness programs for employees and team members regarding compliance requirements and internal controls.
Qualifications:
- Risk Management Experience: Knowledge and understanding of risk principles, practices, and methodologies, including risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring.
- Internal Controls: Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating internal controls to ensure the safeguarding of assets and compliance with company policies.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and derive relevant insights to make informed decisions and address compliance and risk-related challenges.
- Soft Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey detailed compliance issues to various stakeholders, including senior management, auditors, and employees.
- Auditing and Reporting: Familiarity with auditing principles.
- Ethics and Integrity: Demonstrated commitment to ethical behavior and a strong sense of integrity when managing financial and compliance matters.
- Partnership and Leadership: Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and lead discussions on risk-related topics and control enhancements.
