Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled Financial Operations Manager to join our team at Curtis Contracting, Inc. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in finance and accounting, working alongside the Controller and finance department to ensure the smooth running of financial operations, compliance with regulations, and informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily financial activities, including payroll processing, accounts payable and receivable, contract management, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Manage critical accounting functions such as intercompany transactions, fixed asset accounting, intangible assets, and cash management.
  • Assist the Controller in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
  • Engage in both internal and external audits, ensuring prompt resolution of any audit discrepancies.
  • Develop and uphold accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
  • Provide accounting support to Project Management teams on various financial matters.
  • Review project budgets with the Vice President of Operations, Project Managers, and the Controller before system implementation.
  • Establish new projects, cost codes, budgets, and conduct monthly reporting for review with Project Management and the Vice President of Operations.
  • Guide and mentor junior accounting staff in best practices and fundamental accounting principles.
  • Participate in additional projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience.
  • Experience in the construction sector is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated initiative with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and navigate ambiguity while supporting project management.
  • Proficient in handling sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, with the ability to adapt to new accounting software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective interaction with diverse groups, including project management, senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Capable of identifying issues, communicating them to leadership, and implementing solutions.
