Job Title: Early Childcare Specialist

Join the Houston Area Women's Center team as an Early Childcare Specialist, where you will play a vital role in providing quality onsite childcare for children living in our residential facility.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Early Childcare Specialist to plan and implement daily curriculum activities for children aged 18 months to 24 months. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement safe, developmentally appropriate activities for children using the four developmental domains (cognitive, language, physical, and socio-emotional)
  • Provide positive guidance to children, including redirecting, modeling, discussion, and positive reinforcement
  • Maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment that promotes a commitment to children and supports a variety of learning opportunities
  • Communicate daily with parents about their children and provide guidance on early childhood development
  • Work within the Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines to ensure optimal nutrition for children
  • Recognize, document, and take appropriate action in case of suspected abuse, illness, or accident, reporting the incident
  • Assist with playtime, after-school, summer enrichment programs, field trips, and special events
  • Ensure compliance with all grantor standards, Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services, Houston Area Women's Center policies and procedures, and all other contract standards as required
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years' experience, or Associates degree in Early Childhood Development and 1 year experience
  • Experience working with children aged 18 months to 24 months
  • Experience within minimum standards and guidelines for operating a daycare center
  • Understanding of crisis intervention preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
  • Computer savvy and able to learn new applications and systems quickly
  • Strong data-entry skills
  • Current First Aid - CPR required
  • Childhood Development Certificate preferred
  • Texas driver's license with a good driving record; ability to travel to off-site locations, utilizing personal transportation
