Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the Houston Area Women's Center. As an Early Childhood Educator, you will play a vital role in planning and implementing safe, developmentally appropriate activities for children in our childcare program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement daily curriculum for children in the childcare facility, promoting social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
  • Direct and coordinate each child's personal care, hygiene, learning activities, and provide positive guidance.
  • Maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment, adhering to state, local, funder, and agency regulatory rules and regulations.
  • Communicate daily with parents about their children's progress and provide guidance on early childhood development.
  • Work within the Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines to ensure optimal nutrition for each child.
  • Recognize, document, and take appropriate action in case of suspected abuse, illness, or accident, reporting incidents as required.
  • Assist with playtime, after-school, summer enrichment programs, field trips, and special events.
  • Ensure compliance with all grantor standards, Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services, and Houston Area Women's Center policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years' experience, or Associates degree in Early Childhood Development and 1 year experience.
  • Experience working with children ages 18 months-24 months old.
  • Experience within minimum standards and guidelines for operating a daycare center.
  • Understanding of crisis intervention and conflict resolution with children and families.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Computer savvy and able to learn new applications and systems quickly.
  • Strong data-entry skills.
  • Current First Aid - CPR certification.
  • Childhood Development Certificate preferred.
  • Texas driver's license with a good driving record; ability to travel to off-site locations, utilizing personal transportation.
