Job Summary

Nuclear Medicine Technologists play a crucial role in the administration of ionizing radiation, nonionizing radiation, and adjunctive medications for diagnostic, therapeutic, and research purposes. They work closely with licensed practitioners and authorized users to ensure the safe and effective use of radioactive materials, medications, and imaging equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer ionizing radiation, nonionizing radiation, and adjunctive medications for diagnostic, therapeutic, and research purposes.
  • Perform nuclear medicine and molecular imaging procedures, radiotheranostics, or therapies as prescribed by a licensed practitioner and under the supervision of an authorized user.
  • Prepare, administer, and document activities related to ionizing radiation, nonionizing radiation, medications, and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy.
  • Evaluate images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verify archival storage and/or transfer of data, post-processing of data if applicable.
  • Assemble, calibrate, maintain, and administer radiopharmaceuticals while complying with standards and as prescribed by a licensed practitioner and under the supervision of an authorized user.
  • Perform hybrid imaging, including PET-CT and SPECT-CT for emission, transmission, attenuation correction, anatomical location, and for use in radiation therapy treatment planning when performed within hybrid imaging as prescribed by a licensed practitioner and under the supervision of an authorized user.
Requirements
  • Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) or Registry by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist - Nuclear Medicine (ARRT-N) upon hire.
  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology or Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study.
  • Minimum of 1 year-Related work experience.
