Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Geisinger Health System. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform MRI procedures using radiofrequencies within a magnetic field for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes.
  • Acquire and analyze data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.
  • Prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy.
  • Ensure correct orders are obtained, patients are properly identified and prepared for exams, and clinical histories are corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilize appropriate imaging protocols and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  • Evaluate images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verify archival storage and/or transfer of data, post-processing of data if applicable.
  • Educate and monitor students and other healthcare providers.
  • Apply principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patients, self, and others.
  • Assist licensed practitioners with magnetic resonance interventional procedures.
  • Perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures as prescribed by licensed practitioners.
  • Select appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
  • MRI safety knowledge and participate in MRI Safety implant investigation and approval process.
Requirements
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) or Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Certification Board (NMTCB) required upon hire.
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry or NMTCB prior to first day of employment.
  • Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2, including advanced certification, within 24 months.

Education and Experience

Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required).

Certifications and Licenses

Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body, Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
