Role Summary

The Facilities & Engineering division is seeking a skilled Manager of Metrology and Laboratory Systems Maintenance. This role will involve overseeing the maintenance of metrology and laboratory systems, managing both internal teams and external partners to fulfill business requirements. The Manager will coordinate routine and non-routine maintenance for all laboratory instruments and systems, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and maintaining thorough documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Metrology and Laboratory System services to support essential business functions.
  • Utilize analytical skills to identify and resolve moderately complex issues, developing solutions in line with cGMP standards.
  • Represent the team in cross-functional collaborations, leveraging established relationships to influence stakeholders effectively.
  • Maintain and enhance procedures for asset management, calibration, and maintenance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Supervise metrology and lab system maintenance personnel to ensure optimal operation of all equipment.
  • Accountable for asset onboarding, including defining calibration parameters and schedules.
  • Coordinate with vendors for quotes, scheduling, and troubleshooting calibration and maintenance services.
  • Manage work orders and asset updates within Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Facilitate non-conformance reporting in CMMS.
  • Oversee contracts, purchase orders, and invoices related to calibration and maintenance services.
  • Manage the operating budget for Metrology and Laboratory Systems, ensuring alignment with financial targets.
  • Conduct periodic asset inventory verifications and update databases accordingly.
  • Engage in project management tasks with defined objectives.
  • Address non-routine challenges within the area of expertise.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or a related engineering field, with at least 5 years of experience in Metrology and Laboratory System Maintenance.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of cGMP regulations in the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Comprehensive understanding of laboratory systems and equipment.
  • Familiarity with Inspection, Measurement, and Test Equipment (IMTE) and control systems.
  • Experience coordinating external contractors for laboratory operations and maintenance.

Preferred:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to support operational needs.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills that foster team empowerment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of learning new software systems.
  • Experience with regulatory asset management systems is advantageous.
