Job Summary

Point Loma Nazarene University is seeking a qualified adjunct professor to teach online courses in health communication. The successful candidate will have a strong background in health communication and experience in online teaching.

Responsibilities
  • Teach online courses in health communication
  • Design and develop online courses as needed
  • Invest in students and provide a supportive learning environment
  • Participate in program, department, and institutional activities as appropriate
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in health communication or a related field (preferred)
  • Online course development experience and online teaching experience required
  • Adult teaching experience required
  • Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement
  • Thorough commitment to the concept of Christian liberal arts education
Physical Requirements

The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods of time. Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Vision to read documents, email and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone. Will also stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 10 lbs throughout the day.

Special Instructions

The number of adjunct instructors hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department. Please realize that there may not presently be an adjunct position available. When an opening becomes available for which you would be a good match, the department chair will be in contact with you for further dialogue, interviews, etc.
