Job Summary

Point Loma Nazarene University is seeking a highly qualified adjunct professor to teach online courses in Strategic Communication. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communication studies, online teaching experience, and a commitment to Christian higher education.

Responsibilities
  • Teach online courses in Strategic Communication
  • Design and develop online courses as needed
  • Invest in students' academic and personal growth
  • Participate in department and institutional activities as appropriate
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or M.A. in Communication, Strategic Communication, or a related field
  • Online course development and teaching experience
  • Adult teaching experience
  • Personal: Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement
  • Background check required
Physical Requirements

The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods. Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Vision to read documents, email, and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone. Will also stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 10 lbs throughout the day.

Special Instructions

The number of adjunct instructors hired varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department. Please note that there may not be an adjunct position available at this time. When an opening becomes available, the department chair will contact you for further dialogue and interviews.
