POSITION OVERVIEW:

This role is designed to address the unique requirements of students by providing consultative assistance to educators and families, facilitating their success within the General Education Curriculum.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct assessments to identify student needs; Engage in IEP meetings and ongoing collaborative support sessions; Formulate both short-term and long-term educational objectives and instructional strategies; Collaborate with staff and families to enhance educational outcomes; Assist students, families, and educational teams in maintaining an inclusive learning environment; Gather and interpret data to aid case managers in making informed instructional choices; Support the creation and tracking of IEP goals and objectives; Provide coaching and demonstrate effective inclusion practices grounded in current research; Deliver professional development opportunities for educators on inclusion strategies and their advantages; Understand IDEA disabilities and their implications for academic performance and behavior; Recognize how various disabilities may present in classroom settings; Facilitate the integration of grade-level curriculum and classroom standards; and Share expertise regarding special education and general education instructional resources and frameworks.

DUTIES:

Ensure that educators and families receive the necessary resources to implement IEP goals effectively across various environments; Work alongside the IEP Team to guarantee students engage in age-appropriate activities and access grade-level curriculum; Maintain positive communication with team members and families regarding student progress and achievements; Assist in data collection and analysis to monitor student progress; Conduct training sessions within the school as outlined by the IEP; Provide recommendations to school administrators regarding student and staff requirements; Collaborate with general and special educators to share insights about student needs based on intervention data; Utilize data to identify the most effective classroom supports (academic, developmental, behavioral, social) for interactions with staff and peers; Suggest necessary modifications and scaffolding for each student to access their learning; Communicate effectively with families about student progress; and Collaborate with external agencies to provide support for students, staff, and families.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in education required; Advanced professional certification or eligibility for APC in the current academic year (through submission of official transcripts) with a preference for Special Education endorsement; Minimum of four years of successful teaching experience; Familiarity with curriculum development and staff training; and Knowledge of Federal, State, and local special education laws and regulations.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:

This is a full-time position spanning eleven months.

SALARY INFORMATION:

Compensation for this exempt position will align with the EASMC salary schedule for eleven-month employees.
