Job Description

Turner & Townsend Heery is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to work on public-sector projects, including K-12 education, higher education, public venue projects, and parks & recreation.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage all facets of project management, including budget, schedule, procurement, quality & risk, for individual projects.
  • Interface directly with the client and other consultants at all project stages.
  • Project planning, including producing the detailed project plan.
  • Create action plans to meet objectives, budget, and schedule.
  • Monitor and apply performance management techniques.
  • Track progress of each project against goals, objectives, approved budgets, approved timelines, and report status and variances.
  • Manage the change control process.
  • Implement change management routines to assess change requests, make recommendations, secure client approvals, and issue change orders.
  • Assess change requests to determine impacts to scope, budget, schedule, quality, and risk with management support.
  • Manage the flow of project information between the team and the client, through regular meetings and written communications.
  • Prepare formal project budget progress and other reports.
  • Quality Control – Ensure compliance with quality standards as defined by Turner & Townsend Heery and the client.
  • Work to construct proposals for new work or variations for existing projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Project Management procedures, templates, and products, referring ideas to the appropriate line manager.
  • Recommend resources to manager and clients.
  • Be an integral part of the project delivery resources/team to achieve project goals.
  • Implement communication plan for meetings and written reports/meeting minutes to keep client and project resources informed.
  • Facilitate project meetings when appropriate.
  • Establish effective project governance, processes, and systems to be utilized throughout the project.
  • Ensure project data integrity and documentation is accurate, timely, and coordinated.
  • Implement standard risk management routines with management support, to identify project risks, develop risk mitigation and contingency plans, and implement action plans to reduce or eliminate project risks.
  • Financial management – Ensure prompt client invoicing and utilize financial system in order to monitor a project's financial status.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to advise at a strategic level during the project conception stage, including providing advice on the different approaches that can be adopted in order to successfully achieve the client's overall objectives.
  • Great time management skills. Ensure that project is managed to the right quality standards, completed efficiently, and on time.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with clients and cross-functional team members.
  • Experienced working as an effective team member within the context of delivering a specific commission.
  • Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings and contract documents.
  • Knowledge of schedule building and management principles.
  • Knowledge of contracts and construction practices.
  • Key information and data is effectively shared and appropriately retained.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience working as a Project Manager within the design and construction industry on public-sector projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to be highly effective in a client-facing role.
  • College degree in PME Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations.
  • Experienced managing stakeholders and working in a team environment.
  • 8-10 years of project management experience preferred.
