Position Overview:

The UNIX Engineering Lead will be responsible for steering a team of engineers in the effective management of UNIX and Linux server environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct daily operations of UNIX and Linux server infrastructure.
  • Supervise systems engineering, deployment, and ongoing support.
  • Oversee engineering personnel and external vendors to collect, evaluate, and present performance metrics and root cause analyses.
  • Coordinate the development and execution of workflow processes.
  • Accountable for both logical and physical architecture concerning enterprise servers, extensive SAN storage, backups, system security, configurations, manageability, automation, and operations.
  • Manage processes within the UNIX Operations domain.

Technical Expertise Required:

  • In-depth knowledge of Unix/Linux and associated services, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions 5, 6, and 7.
  • Familiarity with High-Availability solutions such as Red Hat Cluster Services and Global File System.
  • Proficient in Configuration Management tools including Red Hat Satellite Server, Chef, and Puppet.
  • Experience with Web Servers like Apache, Tomcat, and NGINX.
  • Capability in managing servers that support databases, ideally Oracle and Oracle RAC.
  • Skilled in monitoring and troubleshooting utilizing various tools.
  • Experience in managing both physical and virtual servers.

Experience Requirement:
Minimum of 8 years in a relevant field.
