Job Overview

This role is classified as Full-Time, hourly, and non-exempt. The workload for this position varies throughout the year, with an average of over 35 hours per week, increasing during peak seasons and decreasing during off-peak times. Weekend availability is essential as the HR department operates seven days a week. The HR Specialist may also assist other departments as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

The HR Specialist oversees daily human resource operations at Tagawa Gardens and may supervise 1-2 HR Assistants to ensure coverage throughout the week. The following duties are included:

Staffing, Training, and Recruitment

  • Evaluate staffing needs and collaborate with HR Assistants to:
  • Conduct meetings with supervisors to determine seasonal staffing requirements.
  • Utilize approved recruitment strategies to source candidates.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal job posting regulations.
  • Manage applicant flow and maintain necessary documentation.
  • Screen candidates and coordinate interviews.
  • Facilitate orientation and onboarding processes for new hires.
  • Analyze compensation structures to assist in candidate retention.
  • Track employee records, including start dates and promotions.
  • Support ongoing training initiatives for staff.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Prepare reports for management regarding labor hours and departmental needs.
  • Review and update employee handbooks to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor legal compliance and assist in investigations as necessary.
  • Maintain employee personnel files and ensure proper documentation flow.
  • Assist in developing new policies and procedures.

Safety and Workers' Compensation

  • Complete necessary paperwork for workplace injuries within specified timeframes.
  • Collaborate with various agencies for safety inspections and compliance.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets and ensure adherence to safety regulations.
  • Serve on the Safety Committee to promote a safe work environment.

Payroll and Employee Relations

  • Act as the primary contact for the labor tracking system and assist with corrections.
  • Manage paperwork related to employee leave and time-off requests.
  • Provide support in employee coaching and performance evaluations.
  • Monitor employee morale and conduct interviews to enhance retention.
  • Assist with benefits enrollment and answer related inquiries.
  • Coordinate the exit process for departing employees.

Additional Information:

The HR Specialist may be required to assist in other departments as directed. Teamwork and communication are vital components of this role, and all employees are expected to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the United States.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Resources or related fields.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.
