Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Public Health Nurse II to join our team at Transylvania County, NC. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct service and preventive care to individuals and families in the clinic, home, and community settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and determine the authenticity of positive lab reports from various sources.
  • Perform investigations by interviewing cases, contacts, and medical providers.
  • Counsel clients about diseases and provide control measures verbally or in writing.
  • Provide treatment to cases and contacts as needed.
  • Complete Confidential Communicable Disease Reports and submit them to the NC Communicable Disease Control Branch.
  • Coordinate care for active TB clients with private providers and/or the Medical Director.
  • Provide and oversee the administration of medications, provision of x-rays, and assessment of clients with active and latent TB.
  • Serve as a primary resource person for community medical providers.
  • Participate in quarterly Epi Team meetings.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a four-year university or college with a B.S. Degree in Nursing that includes a Public Health rotation.
  • One year of Public Health Nursing experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • A valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
