Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician II to join our team at Novant Health. As a Pharmacy Technician II, you will play a vital role in assisting pharmacists with medication preparation, inventory management, and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including selecting, counting, compounding, packaging, and labeling medications.
  • Triage telephone calls in the pharmacy and assist customers at the pharmacy window.
  • Process patient medication charges and credits as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of inventory in dispensing areas, including prepackaging or assembly of medications for future dispensing.
  • Perform advanced operations of pharmacy automated systems, including automated dispensing machine reporting, central pharmacy automation maintenance, and advanced oral compounding.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in pharmacy computer systems and train others in basic computer system use.
  • Perform pharmacy and medication unit inspections.
  • Receives the medication order, puts the order into pharmacy stock, and delivers floor stock to patient care areas in the hospital.
  • Perform all advanced operations in the outpatient pharmacy, including advanced automation management, prescription fulfillment, advanced prescription computer system management, and operating the cash register if applicable to position.
  • Obtain and document accurate and complete patient medication histories if applicable to position.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of new technicians, students, residents, and pharmacists.

Requirements

  • Registered Pharmacy Tech-NC within 90 days of hire date.
  • Cert Pharmacy Tech-National.
  • High School Diploma.
  • One year of experience as a pharmacy technician at NHRMC or two years of healthcare experience prior to hire or graduate of ASHP accredited pharmacy technology associates program or graduate of ASHP accredited pharmacy technology diploma program and one year of healthcare experience.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) is required.
  • Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire date.
