Job Title: Real Estate and Construction Attorney

Amgen's Legal Department is seeking an experienced Construction and Real Estate Attorney to provide legal advice and support to various departments and business units.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Negotiate and draft complex construction contracts and design agreements for large and small projects throughout the United States and internationally.
  • Advocate for clients' positions in pre-litigation construction disputes, including experience with lien rights, construction defect claims, and enforcement of warranty rights.
  • Negotiate and draft complex purchase and sale agreements and support relevant due diligence activities, including familiarity with title insurance policies, surveys, and real estate-related environmental matters.
  • Draft and negotiate leases, subleases, and all associated lease documentation.
  • Manage outside counsel and outside counsel legal budgets.
Requirements:
  • J.D. degree or LL.M. degree from an accredited law school, admission to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction, and two (2) years of experience practicing Real Estate and Construction law.
  • Top-tier law firm and/or in-house experience at a multi-national corporation.
  • Biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical experience.
  • Insurance experience in areas associated with construction and real estate.
  • International project experience.
  • M&A experience related to real estate assets.
  • Familiarity with AIA suite of construction and design agreements.
  • Familiarity with lean principles of construction project delivery.
  • Subject matter expert in construction and real estate law.
  • Ability to work independently, with some supervision, on complex transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate risk and to exercise sound legal judgment.
  • Ability to influence and provide support for other attorneys and paralegals.
  • Must be team-oriented and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a solution-oriented approach to legal issues.
  • Self-motivated, with outstanding interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate complex concepts and issues effectively with all levels of management.
  • Ability to multi-task and work quickly and collaboratively under tight deadlines.
  • Highly organized with ability to effectively manage outside counsel.
