Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Clinician to join our team at UTHealth Houston. As a key member of our Behavioral Sciences department, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing staff, units, and overall quality of mental health services in assigned areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directs clinical supervision and training of all clinicians, social workers, and interns in assigned areas.
  • Conducts chart audits to identify deficient documentation and provides performance training to staff.
  • Monitors timeliness of assigned staff members' required assessments, treatment plans, discharge plans, and other services to meet Joint Commission and regulatory agency standards.
  • Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports, including recruiting, hiring, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
  • Ensures staffing coverage for assigned areas and tracks time and attendance for assigned staff.
  • Provides indirect services to patients by acting as an advocate and developing treatment plans with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Consults with assigned staff to assess patients' psychosocial functioning and conducts interviews to determine assets and challenges to optimal patient functioning.
Requirements
  • Current license from the Texas Board of Social Work Examiners to practice as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
  • Master's degree in a behavioral science.
  • Five years of experience in a mental health setting, including two years in case management.
