Job Summary:

The Production Shift Lead will work closely with their assigned manufacturing team to coordinate the production of high-quality wood pellets in a safe and cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coach, lead, and manage the production crew
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of themselves and all other employees on their shift, maintaining a safe and organized operating environment
  • Set standards for housekeeping, quality, and productivity on the shift
  • Monitor shift performance and communicate improvement initiatives
  • Administer the personal development program for the team
  • Operate and maintain equipment, including the green in-feed system, dryer system, dry hammer mill system, kiln-dried system, pellet mills, and other associated equipment
  • Keep accurate production and downtime records, including operator logs
  • Monitor quality test results and correct the root cause of any incidents outside of specified ranges
  • Be qualified as relief in all positions and cover for absences on the team
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Production Manager
Requirements:
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt leadership style as needed
  • Ability to motivate a team and hold them to a standard
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience, preferably in a fast-paced 24/7 environment and direct wood pellet manufacturing experience
  • Prior experience in manufacturing process troubleshooting, delegation, and problem-solving is desired
  • Ability to coach, train, and mentor
  • Good communication and documentation skills
