Role Responsibilities

As a clinical instructor, you will:

  • Execute the College's educational philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through effective clinical instruction and service to the College, community, healthcare systems, and the nursing profession.
  • Take charge of all independent aspects of your teaching responsibilities.
  • Design clinical experiences and provide direct oversight and assessment of nursing students as they deliver care to individuals or groups.
  • Be accessible to staff at clinical agencies.
  • Assess and provide documented feedback to students regarding their performance in relation to course objectives.
  • Be available for student remediation as necessary.
  • Stay informed about agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with the support of agency personnel.
  • Create and distribute written clinical assignments tailored to students' knowledge, skills, and individual learning needs.
  • Review and return assignments, quizzes, tests, lab work, clinical documentation, and other written materials promptly.
  • Contribute to the continuous development, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs and the College.
  • May instruct didactic course content under the guidance of the course coordinator.
  • Keep the course coordinator updated on all student and agency-related issues and concerns.
  • Collaborate with college administration, staff, and fellow faculty to enhance overall college operations and student satisfaction.
  • Engage in the College Assessment Program, campus retention initiatives, and adhere to departmental and campus policies.
  • Serve as a professional role model for faculty, staff, and students in customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, attire, attendance, and professionalism.
  • Utilize interpersonal skills in scenarios requiring group problem-solving, consensus-building, and collaborative negotiation.
  • Adhere to applicable regulatory standards and guidelines.
  • Report to the dean, assistant dean, or course coordinator.
Qualifications

  • A master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • An unencumbered professional nursing license in the state of Delaware.
  • An Illinois nursing license will be required prior to accepting any clinical contracts for a given session.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience within the last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse.
  • Preferred experience in teaching or precepting, though not mandatory.
  • A genuine passion for nursing, education, and lifelong learning.
  • Exceptional expertise in the subject matter with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required for teaching at certain clinical partner sites.
  • A commitment to serving students and colleagues with respect, passion, and care.

Additional Information

This position is classified as a Chamberlain Visiting Professor - Campus.

In accordance with pay transparency laws, the expected compensation for this role ranges from $560 to $7,245 per assignment, based on the credit hours assigned to the course.

Actual compensation may vary based on job-related factors permitted by law, including course type, experience, geographic location, licensure, certifications, market conditions, departmental budgets, and responsibilities.
