We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Assistant Store Manager to join our team at Books-A-Million. Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Store Manager in achieving sales plans and comp sales goals
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a collaborative and passionate team to run the store
  • Provide leadership in running an operationally sound business, balancing operations, delegation, and autonomy, and customer-first selling practices
  • Monitor and control shrink/loss prevention, payroll hours, and schedules
  • Provide product knowledge and information to employees and customers
  • Collaborate with retail leadership and HQ partners on trends and customer feedback
  • Run sales reports and use data to inform sales strategies
  • Merchandise the store in a compelling way, helping the team buy back in-demand items and developing a store that is a part of the community
  • Develop a high-performing, customer-focused team with the Store Manager

Requirements

  • At least six months of retail store management experience, with a proven track record of leading teams to success
  • Strong communication, recruiting, operations, and development skills
  • Passion for bookselling and a deep understanding of the industry
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent, with a degree preferred
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-changing retail environment
