Department Overview

The Infrastructure and Sustainability Department is seeking Facilities Specialist Apprentices. These specialists are essential in managing the operations of various facilities, adapting to evolving occupant expectations and complex building systems.

This full-time position offers benefits and a place in an accredited apprenticeship program, designed to last two years with competency-based wage increases. Apprentices will receive hands-on training and have access to necessary coursework, which requires a commitment of 2-3 hours weekly.

Position Summary

Under the mentorship of experienced technicians, this role involves learning and executing a variety of maintenance tasks. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Maintaining registration in the Facilities Specialist Apprenticeship Program.
  2. Assisting in routine inspections and preventive maintenance across various systems.
  3. Participating in troubleshooting and repair processes.
  4. Conducting regular maintenance tasks, such as machinery lubrication and filter replacements.
  5. Supporting general repairs and collaborating with team members for efficient workflow.
  6. Documenting maintenance logs and service histories.
  7. Adhering to safety protocols and participating in safety inspections.
  8. Engaging in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  9. Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Educational Requirements: High School Diploma/GED or Vocational School Diploma.

Other Required Qualifications: Must be accepted into the Facilities Specialist Apprenticeship Program, possess a valid Driver's License, and be capable of performing physically demanding tasks.

Experience: 0-1 year of relevant experience.

Skills and Abilities

Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong desire to learn, basic understanding of mechanical systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
