Job Description

The Graphic Account Specialist role at PPC Flex involves maintaining positive customer relationships through active engagement throughout the art and flexo plate process. Effective communication with customers and sales staff ensures that customer design intent is met, while providing technical instructions to the Production Artist and Prepress Suppliers. The Graphic Account Specialist is responsible for managing projects to meet required timelines, supporting PPC's ability to produce flexible packaging materials that adhere to company standards and policies relating to quality and cost efficiencies.

  • Provide clear and professional communication with various teams, including customers, sales staff, customer service, scheduling, technical packaging, graphics, prepress, print production, and quality assurance teams, as it relates to the engineering and assembly of graphic art files and plates for flexographic printing.
  • Manage multiple projects in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Communicate directly with prepress suppliers regarding projects/orders.
  • Create estimates for art, prepress services, and plates.
  • Create purchase orders for outsourced art, prepress services, and plates.
  • Evaluate art files for assembly and print production, providing clear instructions for modification of files and conformance to print tolerances for consistent printability.
  • Follow instructions, both written and verbal, regarding graphics and prepress production, seeking answers to questions/concerns regarding potential print issues that may be corrected during file preparation to ensure positive outcomes at press.
  • Preflight art files for assembly and print production, providing clear instructions for modification of files and conformance to print tolerances for consistent printability.
  • Follow compliance with all quality control procedures to ensure that files are being processed appropriately for print production, including file preparation prior to proofing and plate production.
  • Read and understand production order specifications and finished product requirements.
  • Work proactively with sales, customer service, and scheduling to meet production schedules.
  • Receive and post files as needed.
  • Determine ink colors to be used prior to production, including ordering ink drawdowns as needed.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Detail-oriented, completing required job requirements and information system inputs with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of graphic requirements for flexographic printing.
  • Strong customer service skills, including excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new graphic design tools and adapt to new procedures.
  • Working knowledge of premedia, mechanical prep, prepress, and printing technology.
  • Knowledge of Adobe software (Acrobat, Illustrator, and Photoshop) and Windows (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven experience in effective teams, project management, and continuous improvement methods.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to satisfactorily see and differentiate color per adopted assessment methods to support efficient print production and print quality.
  • Must be able to identify, prioritize, and meet multiple expectations for areas of responsibility.
  • Willing to be trained in both specific and non-specific prepress and print production tasks as needed.
