Deputy Director of Engineering and Technology

Mount Indie is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director of Engineering and Technology to join our team. As a senior leadership role, this position will support the Director of Engineering in overseeing the strategic direction, operational excellence, and innovation within the engineering department.

This role requires close collaboration with C-suite executives and plays a critical role in representing the engineering function at the highest levels of the organization. The Deputy Director will lead large-scale engineering projects, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure the department meets its goals in alignment with the company's overall mission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply strategic leadership to develop and execute the engineering department's strategy, ensuring alignment with the company's vision and objectives.
  • Collaborate with C-Suite to provide insights, updates, and strategic recommendations.
  • Drive roadmaps and lead large-scale engineering projects, ensuring effective resource allocation, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Provide technical guidance to teams on complex projects and challenges.
  • Manage and oversee project execution, ensuring that project deliverables meet business and technical requirements.
  • Assist the Director of Engineering in managing the department's budget, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring cost-effective practices.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand needs, gather feedback, and ensure that the engineering department's initiatives align with broader organizational goals.
  • Promote engineering standards and ensure that all engineering activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role, with a track record of success in driving engineering strategy and execution.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, technologies, and best practices, with the ability to provide technical guidance on complex projects.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively collaborate with executives and represent the engineering department at the highest levels.
  • Experience managing large-scale projects, budgets, and resources, with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Understanding of DoD/DoN practices.
  • Experience supporting teams in the engineering development, testing, and deployment of complex systems.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Current US SECRET Clearance.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience in agile, professional SW development environments.
  • Working knowledge and experience with military networking systems.
  • Experience with US Navy Communications networks and C4ISR.
  • Management Degree, MBA, or similar certification (such as PMP).
