Job Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Technician I is responsible for the upkeep and repair of various physical structures, ensuring that all building finishes are maintained and the grounds are kept clean. This role involves working with mechanical equipment and tools, often in challenging conditions such as outdoor weather and elevated locations. The work environment can be quite noisy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and interpret work orders or verbal instructions from management.
  • Assist in the relocation and setup of furniture.
  • Replace light bulbs and ballasts as needed.
  • Conduct minor plumbing repairs, including clearing clogged drains and fixing small leaks.
  • Perform touch-up painting and repainting tasks in various rooms.
  • Carry out snow removal duties during winter months.
  • Manage landscaping tasks, including weed and brush removal.
  • Support the installation and repair of equipment and fixtures.
  • Maintain cleanliness in both interior and exterior areas.
  • Execute minor repairs such as replacing ceiling tiles, installing cove bases, hanging shelves, and repairing vinyl composition tile (VCT).
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on emergency equipment.
  • Change air filters as required.
  • Operate company vehicles for various tasks, including snow removal and material pickup.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements

In this role, the associate will regularly stand, walk, and use their hands for various tasks. They may need to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and will frequently climb or balance. Communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. The position may also require lifting and moving items weighing up to 100 pounds. Vision capabilities necessary for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Up to one year of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with CMMS software and Microsoft Office applications.

This position involves frequent exposure to mechanical equipment and tools, as well as outdoor weather conditions, including wet and humid environments. The noise level in the workplace is typically loud.
