Job Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Technician I is responsible for the upkeep and repair of physical structures, ensuring that all building finishes are maintained and the grounds are kept clean. This role involves working with various mechanical equipment and tools, often in challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive and interpret work orders or verbal instructions from supervisors.
  • Assist in the relocation and installation of furniture.
  • Change light bulbs and ballasts as needed.
  • Conduct minor plumbing tasks, including clearing clogged drains and repairing small leaks.
  • Perform touch-up painting and repainting of rooms.
  • Manage snow removal tasks during winter months.
  • Remove weeds and brush from designated areas.
  • Engage in various unskilled landscaping activities.
  • Support the installation and repair of equipment and fixtures.
  • Carry out cleaning duties for both interior and exterior spaces.
  • Perform minor repairs such as replacing ceiling tiles, installing cove bases, hanging shelves, and repairing VCT flooring.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on emergency equipment.
  • Change filters as required.
  • Operate company vehicles for various tasks, including snow removal and material pickup.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:

While executing the responsibilities of this position, the associate will frequently need to stand, walk, and use hands and arms for various tasks. Climbing, balancing, talking, and hearing are also regular requirements. Occasionally, the associate may need to sit. The role involves lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Up to one year of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with CMMS software and Microsoft Office applications.

This position may expose the associate to moving mechanical equipment and tools, as well as varying weather conditions, including wet and humid environments. The work environment is typically loud.
