Job Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Technician I is responsible for the upkeep and repair of physical structures, interior finishes, and the maintenance of outdoor areas. This role involves frequent exposure to operational machinery and tools, as well as occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including humidity and precipitation. The work environment is typically characterized by elevated noise levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and interpret work orders or verbal instructions from management.
  • Assist in the relocation and setup of furniture.
  • Replace light bulbs and ballasts as needed.
  • Conduct minor plumbing repairs, including clearing clogged drains and fixing small leaks.
  • Perform touch-up painting and repainting of various spaces.
  • Carry out snow removal tasks during winter months.
  • Manage landscaping duties, including weed and brush removal.
  • Support the installation and repair of various equipment and fixtures.
  • Maintain cleanliness of both interior and exterior spaces.
  • Execute minor repairs such as replacing ceiling tiles, installing cove bases, hanging shelves, and repairing vinyl composition tile (VCT).
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on emergency equipment.
  • Change air filters as required.
  • Operate company vehicles for various tasks, including snow removal and material collection.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements

In this role, the associate will regularly need to stand, walk, and utilize hands and arms for various tasks. Activities may include stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Climbing and balancing are also frequently required, along with verbal communication and auditory comprehension. Occasionally, the associate may need to sit. The position requires the ability to lift and/or move items weighing up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Up to one year of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with CMMS software and Microsoft Office applications.

While performing the duties of this position, the associate may encounter moving mechanical equipment and tools, as well as varying weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is generally loud.
