Job Summary:
As a Surgical Assistant at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the surgical team during intra-operative procedures. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the surgical team in preparing patients for surgery, including pre-operative assessment and evaluation.
  • Provide technical assistance to the surgeon during procedures, adhering to AORN standards and facility protocols.
  • Evaluate patients post-operatively, ensuring continuity of care and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to plan and execute surgical procedures, utilizing knowledge of patient care and surgical protocols.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide surgical assistance for elective, emergent, and urgent cases.

Requirements:
  • Minimum two years of peri-operative scrubbing and circulating experience in a KP OR or one year experience as an RNFA in or outside of KP.
  • Certification of Completion from AORN recognized RNFA course.
  • Successful completion of an RNFA program that meets the AORN Recommended Education Standards for RNFA and criteria for the CB.PMN acceptance program.
  • Registered Nurse License (Oregon) and Nurse Operating Room Certificate.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum two years of practice as an RNFA.
  • CRNFA certification preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required upon hire/transfer preferred.
