POSITION OVERVIEW
The Food Innovation Research Manager is pivotal in steering research initiatives focused on developing novel products and solutions, enhancing existing offerings, conducting laboratory evaluations, participating in scale-up trials, and assessing ingredients. This position will engage closely with diverse functions such as Sales, Marketing, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain, along with our clients and suppliers. The role demands technical proficiency in formulation, process enhancement, completing specifications, and supporting documentation, coupled with a fervor for fostering innovation in the food decorating and coloring sector.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Formulate and create bench-top samples tailored to customer requirements and propel innovation for internal projects aligned with business goals.
  • Manage multiple research and development projects concurrently, from conception to market launch, ensuring adherence to timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Lead the transition of formulations from bench-top to full-scale production.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all research initiatives.
  • Design and implement testing protocols.
  • Proactively explore new ingredients while staying informed about consumer trends and competitive products.
  • Enhance products or replicate color, texture, and flavor profiles, considering cost, labeling implications, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Create technical specifications, formulation documents, and production parameters.
  • Support Sales in addressing customer technical inquiries and collaborate with cross-functional teams regarding ingredients, formulations, and manufacturing challenges.
  • Participate in local trade exhibitions and engage with suppliers to remain abreast of the latest ingredient and process advancements.
  • Execute all tasks assigned by supervisors while adhering to company safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain consistent attendance at work.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or a related discipline, accompanied by relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of product development experience within the food manufacturing sector.
  • Exceptional project management capabilities, with a knack for prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and effectively managing resources.
  • Strong technical knowledge in formulation, ingredients, food chemistry, and the decorating industry.
  • Experience in formulating icings, piping gels, bakery mixes, and food coloring solutions is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the Code of Federal Regulations Title 21 (food) and understanding of food safety regulations, quality assurance standards, and industry best practices.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a passion for driving new product development.
