Job Title: Quality Assurance and Food Safety Supervisor

At Bento Sushi, we are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance and Food Safety Supervisor to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring the consistent quality of our production and plant sanitation by developing and enforcing above-standard manufacturing practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement GMP and HACCP programs to ensure regulatory compliance and company policies.
  • Lead the HACCP program and pre-requisite programs to ensure they are up-to-date and fully implemented in production.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the QA team, including training, coaching, and developing QA technicians.
  • Assist and lead during audits, maintaining records of finished product specifications, SOPs, SSOPs, and QA forms.
  • Create training materials to support GMP/HACCP/Sanitation programs and provide routine employee training on quality, regulatory, and food safety principles.
  • Review plant issues, ensure problems are resolved, and follow up on customer/supplier complaints with corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Implement quality enhancement processes and procedures to achieve process improvements and cost savings.
  • Maintain Recall/Mock Recall, Traceability, FIFO, Continuous Improvement, Sanitation, Pest Control, Food Security, and other programs.
  • Support third-party audits (GMP, Costco), customer, and internal audits.
  • Manage direct reports and prepare recommendations for team development.
  • Oversee facility sanitation through monitoring of environmental swabbing and communicate with the Sanitation team on any identified cleaning issues.
  • Review internal/external testing results for raw materials, finished products, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a college diploma in Food Science or a related field.
  • Preferred 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance.
  • Required to have GFSI experience (SQF is an asset), PCQI certification.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate up and down the organization.
  • Previous leadership experience preferably in a Food Processing facility.
  • Disciplined, motivated, and accountable for all Quality Assurance matters.
  • Strong systems skills (including MS Office).
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred.
