Position: Special Education Instructor (K-8)

Your Role: As a Special Education Instructor, you will design and implement tailored instruction to address the distinct needs of students with disabilities. You will provide necessary modifications to the standard curriculum to support the academic growth and success of our students; assess individual student requirements; cultivate a supportive and effective learning environment; and ensure that our students have access to the resources essential for meeting academic standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and customize individualized teaching strategies that cater to each student's needs.
  • Conduct various assessments and observations to identify areas where students may require additional or modified educational support, including academic performance, behavior, social development, or health.
  • Recognize students' requirements and create corresponding lesson and teaching plans.
  • Formulate individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student, establishing learning objectives and making adjustments as necessary; ensure that each student's activities and lessons are organized according to their capabilities.
  • Design and deliver lessons that provide engaging learning experiences for small groups and individual students while adhering to the specifications of IEPs and 504 plans.
  • Execute IEPs, conduct ongoing assessments, continuously monitor progress, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with classroom and homeroom educators to ensure that each student's needs are addressed and plans are effectively implemented.

Qualifications:

  • A strong passion for supporting students and families in underserved communities.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education from an accredited institution, with appropriate endorsements if applicable.
  • A valid State Teacher License or enrollment in a credentialing program.
  • Proficient pedagogical skills driven by standards and data-informed assessment.
  • Experience in tracking and utilizing data to inform instructional practices.
  • Demonstrated organizational and technological skills to enhance student engagement.
