Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal HW Project Engineer to lead the development of next-generation processing solutions in Cedar Rapids, IA. As a key member of our Computing Solutions Department, you will be responsible for evaluating individual and project performance, anticipating changes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to build and enhance development teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the engineering project leader for programs developing Avionics products, coordinating hardware, software, and firmware scope to meet program commitments.
  • Provide project management and technical direction during all program phases, including pursuit, bidding, planning, execution, and sustainment.
  • Ensure consistency with Collins Aerospace technical consistent engineering processes.
  • Lead a wide range of entry-level to highly experienced engineers.
  • Demonstrate technical ability in processing platforms and associated technologies.
  • Maintain awareness of key technologies and the company's competitive position.
  • Support development and transition of products into a manufacturing environment.
  • Support employment of cost reduction strategies to maximize DTC+ impacts on products.
Requirements
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large development teams with diverse skillsets and interdependencies between functional groups.
  • Successful leadership experience in developing ruggedized avionics products.
  • Experience managing technical projects including schedule and earned value management, risk management, customer interaction, and briefing executive leadership.
  • Experience with Avionics regulatory and certification requirements: TSO, MIL-STD, DO-160, DO-254, DO-178B/C, DO-297, APR4754A.
  • Demonstrated success in balancing system performance and affordability.
  • Strong communicator, able to work with the spectrum of individual contributors to executive leadership.
