Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner)

Position Overview:

This role involves a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation aimed at attracting and appointing qualified candidates for competitive service positions within the Department of Defense.


Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will function as an Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner), tasked with conducting comprehensive medical evaluations and meticulously documenting medical histories and findings. This is essential for assessing the eligibility of applicants for service in the Armed Forces.


Salary Information:

The annual salary for this position ranges from $88,520 to $115,079, excluding locality pay. The final salary will be determined based on the geographical location of the selected candidate.


Work Schedule:

This is a full-time term position, expected to last for two years, with potential for extension based on organizational needs.


Travel Requirements:

Travel may be required up to 90% of the time, necessitating flexibility and readiness to cover staffing shortages at various locations.


Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a current, active, and unrestricted license as a registered nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of licensure. Additionally, a National Board Certification in a relevant specialty is required.


Job Duties Include:
  • Conducting physical examinations of applicants in line with agency standards.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism within the medical department.
  • Completing detailed medical histories for applicants authorized to proceed.
  • Documenting findings in compliance with established software and policies.
  • Recommending further evaluations to Command physicians when necessary.
  • Preparing documentation to assess applicants' fitness for military service.

Employment Conditions:

This position may require successful completion of a background investigation and adherence to various employment conditions, including drug testing and credentialing.
