Salary Information

The anticipated pay range for this position is $43,768 - $94,861 per year. In addition, full-time CSEA positions receive an additional $3,400 for location, and evening or night shift positions receive an additional $575 for inconvenience. This position also offers an additional $13,000 for geography pay.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Department Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Stony Brook University Hospital. As a Licensed Practical Nurse in our Emergency Department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall success of our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect data through observation and communicate information to assist RNs and providers in patient assessment and care planning.
  • Participate as a member of the healthcare team and accept delegation from RNs/assigned supervisors and providers in meeting needs of patients/families.
  • Deliver care in accordance with patient care plans, policies and procedures of the organization, and principles of relationship-based care.
  • Provide routine care for patients, including obtaining vital signs, interviewing patients, and recording their medical history and physical condition.
  • Assist physicians and registered nurses, perform standard diagnostic procedures, prepare specimens for lab courier, administer medications, and provide wound care.
Requirements
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain a license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.
  • Preferred: Acute care*, phlebotomy, EKG, and/or IV experience.

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services.
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen.
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
