Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in the Emergency Department at Stony Brook Medicine. As a member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and work collaboratively with our staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in nursing principles and practices, with a focus on emergency medicine. You will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and providing high-quality patient care in accordance with our organization's policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:
• Collecting and documenting patient data, including vital signs and medical histories
• Developing and implementing individualized care plans in collaboration with our interdisciplinary team
• Providing direct patient care, including administering medications and performing diagnostic tests
• Collaborating with our healthcare team to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess a current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State. Acute care experience is preferred, but not required. You should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

You may be exposed to infectious diseases, blood, body fluids, and/or tissue, as well as other unpleasant elements such as accidents, injuries, and illness. You may also be required to handle unpredictable, emergency, and crisis situations. Occasional irregular hours and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries may be expected.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $43,768 per year, with additional compensation for evening or night shifts, geographic location, and CSEA membership. About Us

Stony Brook University is a smoke-free environment, and all Hospital positions may be subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary.
