Position Overview

Summary
The Culinary Specialist 1 plays a vital role in the preparation, production, and presentation of menu offerings under the guidance of the Executive Chef and Sous Chef.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain compliance with health standards

• Ensure a clean and organized workspace, participating in both pre and post-shift cleaning duties, including kitchen equipment, storage areas, and waste management

• Prepare and present food items in accordance with chef directives

• Follow daily prep lists to guarantee readiness for service

• Assist in the organization and storage of incoming food supplies

• Communicate any issues regarding food quality, kitchen tools, or work areas to the Chef or Sous Chef

• Operate various food stations within the establishment with proficiency and reliability

• Engage with patrons during service in a customer-facing role, addressing any concerns as they arise

• Keep management informed of guest feedback and issues

• Demonstrate advanced skills in various cooking methods such as baking, grilling, and sautéing

• Safely handle knives and instruct others on proper knife techniques

• Operate kitchen equipment safely and provide training to new staff on their use

• Assist in onboarding new team members as directed by the Executive Chef and Sous Chef

• Perform additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications


• Culinary degree preferred

• Minimum of 2 years experience in a professional kitchen setting preferred

• Previous experience in customer service is advantageous

• Proficiency in English for effective communication is essential

• Certification in food safety, such as ServSafe, is preferred

• Ability to ski or snowboard at an intermediate level is necessary for roles in winter operations

Additional Information

Supervision Structure
Supervision Given:
This role does not involve supervisory duties.
Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Sous Chef or Chef De Cuisine, with tasks assigned based on established procedures and regular oversight.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Capability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, and walk for extended periods

• Regular exposure to wet, hot, and humid conditions, with potential for navigating slippery surfaces

• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs, either independently or with assistance

• In certain roles, skiing or snowboarding may be required
