Job Title: Systems Engineer

Leidos is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our team. As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex systems and solutions that meet the needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop technical approaches, solutions, and systems for innovations that best fit business needs.
  • Design and oversee the implementation of solutions throughout the implementation lifecycle to ensure they meet stakeholder needs.
  • Provide recommendations and alternatives for solutions and create solution prototypes.
  • Participate in technology selection and analyze technology environment and constraints.
  • Develop roadmaps for solutions.
  • Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with process owners, technical leads, and stakeholders to refine solutions, designs, processes, and approaches.
  • Employ solution architecture and system engineering principles, processes, methods, models, artifacts, and tools to accomplish analysis, problem evaluation/diagnosis, and solution design.
  • Work closely with end-users, software, data, and DevOps engineers, data engineers, testers, cloud engineers, network engineers, and IA.
  • Employ a system engineering approach for systems planning, design, execution, and sustainment.
  • Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output, and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of systems engineering documentation and diagrams/models.
  • Lead the development of business process maps using a standard methodology and toolset.
  • Provide measurable input to new solutions, processes, or standards to achieve functional/project objectives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to monitor and report technical variances; facilitate resolution of technical issues that adversely impact successful product delivery.
  • Quickly adapt to customer environments and adopt their processes.
  • Author and execute user acceptance strategies, plans, and scripts for innovation deployment.
  • Support the resolution of technical challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Employ exceptional problem-solving, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Support or lead business proposal responses as required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 8+ years of professional experience; or 6+ years of professional experience with a related master's degree.
  • Security+ certification or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT II certification within 14 days of start date.
  • Experience leading solution design and architecture development for a complex cloud-based system.
  • Experience with the design, develop, and delivery of data-driven operations capabilities in a DoD environment.
  • Experience with process mapping.
  • 4+ years of systems engineering experience, including developing requirements traceability for software systems (RVTM), writing software systems engineering documents (SDP, etc.), and developing software interface documents (IDDs/ICDs).
  • Experience working with the Linux operating system and related operating system commands.
  • Familiarity with web services APIs, including REST.
  • Experience identifying and tracking related project task dependencies, risks, and possible mitigations.
  • Experience estimating level of effort (hrs./days/resources) to create a project plan and schedule.
  • Experience working with a highly technical team and in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with project management and configuration management tools such as JIRA, Xray, Confluence, and Git.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts, systems engineers, and architects.
  • Prioritizing work to meet fixed deadlines.
  • Ability to travel periodically, as needed.
  • Experience working and collaborating in a cross-discipline team with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with cloud-based AWS services.
  • Experience with cloud-based enterprise software implementations.
  • Experience with Agile software development.
  • Experience with big data applications.
  • Experience or interest in building AI capabilities for operations.
  • Experience in data technologies like Kafka, Elastic, Spark, NiFi.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes deployment, Agile methodologies, and tools.
  • Experience with NetCool IBM products.
  • Experience with Watson X IBM products.
  • Experience with LLM products and capabilities.
  • Experience with ML tools.
  • Familiarity with AWS GovCloud and cloud infrastructure, including networking and security policies.
  • Experience developing and deploying software in a DoD environment (DISA experience is a plus), including experience building and deploying software applications that meet DoD security standards, including updating applications and code to meet security scans and meeting security implementation guidelines (e.g. STIGs).
  • Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps, Configuration as Code, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD implementation.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD techniques, containerized pipelines, and DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of network routing devices and network device configurations.
  • Understanding of ITIL foundation or ITIL certified.
  • AWS cloud certifications.
  • Experience managing or leading a geographically dispersed team.
