About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Staff Coordinator to join our team at Ochsner Health System. As a Medical Staff Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical staff services department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform credentialing process for new appointments and biennial reappointments of employed physicians and advance practice clinicians.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date credentialing database.
  • Coordinate medical staff committee meetings and perform administrative functions as an assistant to the Director of Medical Staff Services.
  • Ensure compliance with strict guidelines and standards set by JCAHO, CMS, and contractual agreements with healthcare providers.
  • Assume responsibility for administration and medical legal aspects for employed physicians.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 years of business experience at the level of administrative assistant required.
  • Preferred experience in medical staff services/credentialing or healthcare-related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of credentialing principles, including Medical Staff Standards of JCAHO and Credentialing Standards of CMS.
  • Knowledge of medical and postgraduate education.
  • Typing and word processing skills of 50wpm.
  • Analytic skills.
  • Ability to use and experience exercising good judgment in handling difficult situations.
Work Environment

This is a medium work environment that requires the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time and work a flexible schedule, including 24/7, weekends, and holidays.
