Role Overview:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will oversee engineering projects aimed at the design, development, and scaling of new manufacturing equipment and processes for medical devices. This role is pivotal in driving continuous enhancements of existing technologies and processes through Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to ensure peak performance. Additionally, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will mentor junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver engineering expertise for the design, development, and scaling of new products and processes, ensuring efficient transitions to manufacturing.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by developing process methodologies, designing and sourcing equipment, conducting trials, and executing validation protocols.
  • Oversee equipment installation, including project planning, team coordination, and management.
  • Manage validation processes for equipment and procedures, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Apply Six Sigma and Lean principles to drive enhancements in operational metrics such as yield, cost, and quality.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for complex maintenance challenges to meet production demands.
  • Conduct mechanical testing, analyze data, and prepare detailed reports to communicate project status to stakeholders.
  • Support production and maintenance teams, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including cost assessments and engineering activity coordination.
  • Lead training sessions for new equipment to ensure seamless integration for users.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle to ensure successful engineering solution implementation.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  2. A minimum of 7 years of mechanical engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Familiarity with CNC lathing, PLC applications, and automation is preferred.
  4. Proficiency in machine design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks is desirable.
  5. Extensive experience with complex machinery systems.
  6. Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  7. Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, project management methodologies, and quality management systems is preferred.
  8. Strong analytical, communication, and planning abilities.
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  10. Proficient in standard software applications, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
