Housing Services Coordinator

The primary objective of this position is to deliver administrative support to the Housing Services division by conducting interviews with prospective tenants, preparing essential application materials, gathering references, and executing income and rental calculations. Furthermore, this role encompasses providing assistance to families in transition.
All tasks should be in accordance with the mission, strategic objectives, and goals of the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh.
Core Responsibilities- Conduct interviews and evaluate housing applicants.
- Guide applicants in completing necessary documentation and address application-related inquiries.
- Systematically organize applicant files based on a defined checklist.
- Input applications into the database and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Perform background investigations, verify income information, and collect references.
- Calculate rental amounts based on the applicant's financial situation.
- Assess applicant eligibility for housing and communicate outcomes.
- Participate in grievance hearings as required.
- Facilitate relocation support for families by linking them with housing alternatives, resources, and assistance services.
- Coordinate informational sessions for voucher programs.
- Generate reports and maintain comprehensive databases.
- Assist with front desk operations as necessary.
- Utilize office equipment such as printers, copiers, and fax machines.
- Carry out other assigned responsibilities.
A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience in social services. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential. Capability to learn new software applications is expected.
Physical RequirementsThis position involves sitting, standing, operating office equipment, and occasionally lifting items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Work SettingThe work environment is an office setting with a moderate noise level. Access to reliable internet and transportation is necessary.
