Job Summary

The Fleet Mechanic CDL A is a key member of our team, responsible for ensuring the productivity, organization, and safety of our work environments. This role involves working closely with the Fleet Supervisor to drive our company's success. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in preventative maintenance and vehicle repair, with a focus on gas and diesel equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Provide timely and quality repairs to equipment, adhering to safe work practices and quality compliance.
  • Work Area Safety: Routinely inspect the work area and surrounding areas, including the Fleet Shop and Yard, for safety hazards, organization, and cleanliness.
  • Incident Reporting: Follow procedures and promptly report and investigate any incidents. If an employee is not following proper procedures, notify Department Leaders.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Perform vehicle maintenance, including inspecting and repairing equipment with gasoline and diesel engines, as well as performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostic work.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory of parts and tools, and report to Department Leaders when reorders are required.
  • DVIRs: Perform Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports as directed by the Department Manager.
  • Equipment Operation: On occasion, may be assigned to operate all equipment.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments and provide team members with fleet-specific insight.
Required/Preferred Skills and Abilities
  • CDL A Driver's License
  • DOT Medical Card
  • Task Switching: Ability to switch tasks quickly.
  • Communication: Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in a Mechanic CDL role, preferred.
  • PA State Inspections License: Class 7, preferred.
  • AC Certification: EPA 609, preferred.
  • Welding Experience: Preferred.
  • OSHA-10 Certification: Preferred.
  • Auto Tech Experience: Preferred.
  • Machine Operating Experience: A plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical Demands: Ability to perform all fleet maintenance work.
  • Driving: Must be able to drive a CMV.
  • Physical Activity: Often required to sit, stand, walk, bend knees, and stretch arms.
  • Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
