As a trusted partner for numerous Fortune 500 companies in the chemical and lube oil sector, we are currently seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to enhance our maintenance operations for our fleet of tank trailers and Class 8 heavy-duty trucks located in La Porte, TX.

The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor will operate under the general guidance of the Department VP, managing all facets of our preventive maintenance program primarily within our in-house maintenance facilities, while also collaborating with select third-party service providers. Additionally, this role will involve providing support for emergency roadside repairs and overseeing the company tire program.

We are looking for a qualified candidate currently serving as a Shop Manager or an experienced Shop Foreman ready to advance their career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and retain skilled mechanics for all in-house maintenance facilities within your area.
  • Collaborate closely with the Operations team to coordinate scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all preventive and repair orders are accurately documented in the TMT system upon completion.
  • Manage the facility in a safe, efficient, timely, and cost-effective manner, adhering to OSHA regulations and company policies.
  • Follow established safety protocols, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, specialized testing equipment, and consumables.
  • Schedule and supervise mechanics to fulfill terminal maintenance requirements within budget constraints.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the department head.

Qualifications:

  • Strong working knowledge of TMT is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Paccar, JPro, and Lite Check machine software is preferred.
  • A high school diploma or GED, along with coursework in auto and equipment mechanics from a trade school, and a minimum of six (6) years of experience as a mechanic, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 3+ years of experience in a Shop Supervisory or Lead Mechanic role is required.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of industry experience in fleet maintenance is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle and equipment theory, principles, and repair related to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems is mandatory.
  • Thorough understanding of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as other web-based applications. Ability to utilize vehicle diagnostic software is necessary.
  • Experience with the use and completion of repair and purchase orders generated by a maintenance management system is required.
  • Preferred qualifications include 3 to 5 years as a fleet maintenance supervisor, with DOT HM-183 training or experience being a plus. ASE certification is not mandatory but highly recommended.
