Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure donor satisfaction through effective communication and responsiveness to donor inquiries.
  • Assess donor eligibility by evaluating healthy individuals for plasmapheresis procedures and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide clear explanations of informed consent for plasmapheresis and immunization, detailing the procedure, potential risks, and specific immunization programs.
  • Address donor questions and ensure they are fully informed about their participation options.
  • Conduct thorough physical assessments for donors and review relevant data promptly to verify donor eligibility.
  • Assist in various functions within the Donor Room, including completing plasmapheresis and whole blood procedures, ensuring donor safety, and maintaining accurate donor records.
  • Supervise or directly address the immediate needs of donors experiencing adverse reactions during plasmapheresis or immunization.
  • Administer immunizations in accordance with established protocols and monitor donor responses.
  • Provide confidential counseling to donors who do not meet eligibility criteria.
  • Maintain the emergency medical kit and equipment to ensure readiness and compliance with safety standards.
  • Inform donors of any positive viral marker test results and consult with medical personnel regarding unusual test results or incidents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Skills/Abilities Requirements:

  • Exceptional patient/donor assessment capabilities.
  • Ability to manage emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  • Must hold a valid nursing license in the state of operation.
  • Previous experience should reflect adaptability, attention to detail, and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated leadership abilities.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid nursing license (RN) or equivalent certification as required by state law. A Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related field is preferred.
  • Active licensure in the state of operation is required, along with successful completion of medical credential evaluations.
  • Experience should demonstrate adaptability, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
  • Current CPR certification is necessary.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience in a regulated healthcare environment is preferred.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements:

  • Ability to work flexible hours and remain in a standing or seated position for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and move up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Proficiency in using computer software, including DMS and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel as required.
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens is a possibility.
  • Physical ability to perform CPR and respond to emergencies effectively.

Work Environment:

  • Work is conducted in a climate-controlled plasma center.
  • Involves activities in processing areas, including storage facilities.
