As a Registered Nurse, you will ensure donor satisfaction through effective communication and responsiveness to their needs.
Your role involves assessing donor eligibility by evaluating healthy individuals for plasmapheresis procedures and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
You will be responsible for explaining informed consent to donors, detailing the plasmapheresis process, potential risks, and immunization programs.
Address donor inquiries and provide them with the opportunity to decline participation if they choose.
Conduct physical assessments for donors and review data promptly to confirm donor eligibility.
Assist in the Donor Room by performing plasmapheresis and whole blood procedures, ensuring donor safety, and maintaining accurate documentation.
In cases of adverse reactions, you will supervise or provide immediate care to affected donors.
Administer immunizations in accordance with established guidelines and monitor donor responses.
Provide confidential counseling to donors who do not meet eligibility criteria.
Maintain the emergency medical kit and equipment to ensure readiness and compliance with safety standards.
Notify donors of any positive viral marker test results and consult with the Center physician regarding unusual test outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Flexibility to perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Exceptional patient assessment skills and the ability to manage emergencies calmly and effectively.
Must hold a valid nursing license in the state of operation.
Previous experience should reflect adaptability, attention to detail, and effective interpersonal skills.
Strong communication skills and demonstrated leadership capabilities are essential.
Educational Background:
Must possess a valid nursing license or equivalent qualifications as mandated by state law. A Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related field is preferred, along with relevant experience.
Active licensure in the state of operation is required, along with current CPR certification.
Experience in a supervisory role within a regulated healthcare environment is advantageous.
Physical and Cognitive Demands:
Ability to work extended hours in a flexible schedule.
Capable of lifting and moving up to fifty (50) pounds.
Proficient in using computer software, including DMS and Microsoft Office.
Must be able to bend, stoop, or kneel as necessary.
Exposure to bloodborne pathogens is a part of the role.
Physical capability to perform CPR and respond to donor emergencies effectively.
Work Environment:
Work is conducted in a climate-controlled plasma center, including processing areas and storage facilities.
