Associate Analyst for Public Programs

Position Overview
The Department of Food & Agriculture is seeking an Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) to assist in managing various initiatives that bolster the Division's objectives. Under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, the AGPA will analyze diverse datasets, including financial, organizational, and procedural information, to provide insightful recommendations aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and implementing effective controls.
Key Responsibilities
The AGPA will be tasked with:
- Financial Oversight: Monitoring and managing the Division's substantial budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility through thorough analysis of monthly financial reports, budget forecasts, and expenditure tracking.
- Data Compilation: Independently gathering and analyzing budget-related data, including the preparation of the annual budget in alignment with the Budget Act.
- Excel Management: Developing and maintaining intricate Excel spreadsheets to track travel expenditures, ensuring compliance with spending limits.
- Forecasting: Collaborating with Division Managers to project future travel costs, aiding in the preparation of annual travel plans.
- Expenditure Regulation: Advising management on program expenditures, proposing solutions to financial challenges to maintain program viability.
- Revenue Projections: Crafting budget forecasts and fund condition reports to keep management informed about the Division's financial health.
Research and Analysis:
- Conducting independent studies to evaluate significant variables affecting the Division's operations.
- Analyzing cash reserves and funding sources to ensure cost recovery and sustainable program operations.
- Preparing quarterly financial statements for management review, assessing industry trends that may impact the Division.
- Reviewing annual audits of revenue accounts to ensure accuracy in reporting.
- Making strategic recommendations to ensure the fiscal health of the program.
Work Environment
This role is primarily office-based, requiring the ability to establish effective working relationships and manage multiple tasks under pressure. The incumbent will have access to standard office equipment and may occasionally travel for work-related purposes.
