Associate Analyst for Government Programs

Position Overview
The Department of Food & Agriculture is seeking an Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) to manage various initiatives that bolster the Division's objectives. This role entails analyzing a multitude of data sets, including financial, organizational, and procedural information, to derive insights and propose enhancements to management for improved operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Budget Oversight: The AGPA will be responsible for monitoring the Division's substantial budget, ensuring accurate analysis of monthly financial reports, budget proposals, and expenditures to maintain fiscal health.
- Data Compilation: Independently gather and prepare budget-related data, including the formulation of the annual budget in accordance with the Budget Act.
- Financial Tracking: Develop and manage intricate Excel spreadsheets to monitor travel expenses associated with necessary out-of-state trips, ensuring compliance with spending limits.
- Forecasting: Collaborate with Division Managers to anticipate future travel costs, aiding in the preparation of the Annual Out-of-State/Country Blanket.
- Expenditure Management: Advise Division management on program expenditures, proposing strategies for cost reductions or revenue enhancements to ensure program sustainability.
- Financial Projections: Create and present budget forecasts and revenue projections to keep management informed about the Division's financial status.
Research and Analysis:
- Conduct comprehensive studies and analyses to address significant variables, identifying key factors and developing actionable plans.
- Examine the Division's cash reserves and funding sources to ensure revenue generation effectively covers costs and supports ongoing operations.
- Prepare quarterly fund condition statements for management review, analyzing trends in the motor oil industry to assess their impact on the Division.
- Compile and evaluate data from annual audits of revenue-generating accounts, ensuring accuracy in reporting motor oil sales and purchases.
- Provide recommendations to Program Management to maintain fiscal integrity.
Working Environment
This position is primarily office-based, requiring the ability to foster effective working relationships, manage pressure, and make informed decisions. Occasional travel may be necessary, and telework may be integrated into the regular schedule in accordance with departmental policies.
